Microsoft is enhancing its Copilot AI features within Microsoft 365 to empower users in crafting effective prompts and harnessing AI capabilities seamlessly. One significant update is the introduction of an auto-complete function that suggests improvements to prompts as users type. For instance, when initiating a prompt like “summarise,” Copilot will propose options such as summarising the last 10 unread emails, optimising the generation process.

Another innovative addition is the “elaborate your prompt” feature, which refines user-generated prompts. This tool assists when users seek Copilot’s action on a file but require more clarity on the prompt’s depth for optimal outcomes.

Microsoft will also introduce a “Catch Up” chat interface within Copilot for Microsoft 365. This interface will highlight upcoming meetings, surface relevant documents, and provide necessary information to prepare users adequately.

Moreover, Microsoft will enable Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscribers to create, publish, and manage prompts in Copilot Lab. This customisation allows tailored prompts for individual teams within businesses, facilitating seamless sharing of useful prompts among colleagues.

These advancements are unveiled alongside Microsoft’s annual Work Trend Index, a collaborative report with LinkedIn on AI’s role in the workplace. Spataro underscores the growing adoption of AI tools by employees to enhance productivity amid the relentless pace of work, accelerated by the pandemic.

Microsoft’s report highlights a notable trend towards AI adoption, with 78% of AI users leveraging personal tools at work instead of waiting for organisational solutions. There’s a particular emphasis on the emergence of “AI power users,” individuals who leverage AI to optimise work processes and save significant time daily.

These initiatives are strategically aligned with Microsoft’s broader investment in AI, reflected in Azure’s impressive revenue growth, with AI services contributing substantially to this growth trajectory.
