This week, let us dive into the world of creativity with Ashima from Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) in Jalandhar. Her recent artwork for Mother’s Day is nothing short of amazing, capturing the depth of a mother’s love within a unique concept of having a short drawing of a mother helping her child within the larger design of a mother’s face. Let us then hear from the Apeejay student herself about her journey, inspirations, and artistic vision. Read edited excerpts:

Ashima! So, when did you start your artistic journey?

I started drawing during the lockdown, back when I was in 10th grade. With some extra time on my hands, I wanted to channel my creativity, and that’s how it all began.

That’s fantastic! Do you have a favorite art form?

Painting, definitely. There’s something special about painting – the textures, layers, and the hands-on experience make it unique and immersive.

And how does Apeejay support your passion for art?

AIMETC has introduced us to the Apeejay Newsroom, a fantastic platform that nurtures various skills and talents. It’s been a great support in honing my artistic skills by publishing my drawings on their website.

Well, it’s our pleasure! So, every artist has their own definition of art. What’s yours?

Art, to me, is a virtual object or experience consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination.

But how much time do you usually spend on completing an artwork? And what are your common themes?

It usually takes me around 35-45 minutes to complete a piece. My common themes revolve around the beauty of nature and spirituality.

Exciting! Any upcoming artworks we should look forward to?

Yes, I’ll be working on Mandala artwork next. It’s something that has always captivated me.

That sounds intriguing! Is there any new art form you’d like to learn?

Lippan art. It’s absolutely fabulous, and I’m eager to explore it.

And lastly, what are your hobbies beyond art?

I love reading storybooks, traveling, and applying mehndi. It’s a great way to unwind and explore different creative avenues.
