Navi Mumbai school celebrates India’s rich cultural diversity

The students presented a variety of patriotic performances on the occasion of Republic Day

Apeejay School, Nerul, celebrated Republic Day with great fervour at the school ground. To celebrate the auspicious occasion, the members of the school gathered to witness the unfurling of the Indian flag by Rakesh Joshi, regional director-academics, Apeejay Nerul. The students, with hearts brimming with pride for the country, saluted the National Flag.

Every year, the school felicitates parents of the top student achievers on Republic Day. This year was no exception as Mr Joshi congratulated the parents of six young achievers and extended a hearty welcome with a bouquet of flowers.

Students from classes VII and VIII participated in an inter-class march past competition. With their heads held high, the students paraded to the beats of the percussionists that reverberated across the school premises. Mr Joshi went on to address the gathering and emphasised the collective effort of the youngsters in nation-building. He urged students to uphold the honour and integrity of the country and respect India’s cultural diversity and uniqueness.

Some enthusiastic students spoke about the significance of Republic Day in English, Marathi, and Hindi. Students from class VI presented a delightful Lezim show, a folk dance form from Maharashtra.

The school choir left the audience awestruck with a soulful rendition of a patriotic song. Taekwondo routines were also performed by students, in which they displayed useful self-defence techniques. Class V students showcased their talent by presenting a beautiful patriotic dance performance themed on “unity in diversity”. 

Preeti Gupta, vice-principal, Apeejay School Nerul, announced the winners of the march past competition. She appreciated the efforts made by all the students and teachers.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks and an energetic rendition of the song ‘Vande Mataram’ by everyone present on the occasion.
