Every parent must identify a safe space for their child to learn and grow. This is possible only if you come across a school that not only fosters a positive learning environment but also offers a room for extracurricular activities.

One such well-equipped school that has state-of-the-art facilities is Apeejay School. Therefore, it is not surprising that parents like Sudha Verma, mother of Kaushiki Raj Kanaujia, a student of class I studying at Apeejay Svran Global School – Faridabad Sec 21-D chose this school.

In a candid interview, she talks about how this school has satiated her daughter’s learning needs.

Excerpts from the interview

What made you choose this school?

As a parent, we intend to give the best education possible to our kids. While I was searching online, I stumbled upon so many options. But Apeejay School stood out for me. Also, my cousins have studied here. The trust level is high at this school and their innovative methods of teaching helped me choose this school.

How are the teaching methods?

First, I would like to mention that I am 100 percent satisfied with the school and its teaching methods. One of the best highlights of the school is, that they don’t force kids to learn rather they make them understand. They also teach students things outside the books. For instance, recently the teachers spoke about: The good touch and the bad touch. Such teachings foster a child’s development to a great extent.

Does your child indulge in any extracurricular activities?

Yes. My daughter is very active and remains super keen when it comes to dancing. Moreover, she loves to participate in different competitions held at the school.

Changes in her behaviour since she joined the school.

There have been several positive changes since she joined this school. Kaushiki’s learning abilities have increased. She can grasp concepts of what is wrong and what is right in an appropriate manner.

How do you spend quality time with her?

It is important to become a friend to your children rather than just a mother. I help Kaushiki with her school homework and find time to even play with her. She is extremely curious and loves to explore new things. She actively participates in Math and Science Olympiads, and as a part of our daily routine, we collaborate on solving challenging questions. The everyday time spent has significantly deepened our mother-daughter bond.

What are your tactics to encourage your child to study at home?

When Kaushiki turned 3, I made her understand that no matter what, it was her duty to write one page in Hindi and one in English. I don’t have to force her to study at home. She has made her timetable which she follows diligently.

Are PTMs held regularly?

Yes, they are and I have never missed any PTM. It is very important to keep a check on your child’s progress and developmental journey.

What is the best thing you like about Apeejay?

There are several. But one thing that stands out is the teachers here. They are not just concerned with imparting bookish knowledge. They understand that these days, kids are smart and need to be taught uniquely. They even equip the parents with certain applications and videos through which kids can learn visually as well.

What is your parenting mantra?

Nothing should deprive a child of childhood. Children need to study and indulge in different activities but we should never force them. Learning is an ongoing process. Apeejay understands that it is essential for children to have space and learn without being burdened.
