A course in fashion studies is the new in-thing in the industry. After pursuing this course from a good university, one steps up their game in the professional world. Adhya Kalra is doing just that as she is pursuing a Bachelors in Design and Fashion from Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar.

Speaking with her father, Mr Ashish Kalra in a quick chat, we learn about Adhya’s growth and the reasons behind choosing this college. Read edited excerpts:

Tell us about Aadhya’s progress

Aadhya is doing very well at college. I don’t pressurise her for anything, she is by herself; she is a very diligent student. One can see that in the great exam results she gets. She has adjusted very well in college and is happy going there everyday.

How are the teachers?

Without a doubt they are very good! They are very cooperative is a feedback that I constantly get from my daughter. She is happy and busy with projects and college work most of the time. I am happy to see her in such a positive growth oriented space.

What career does she have in mind?

Adhya wants to do a masters degree next. She wants to study further in design and I will support her fully in it.

What about the placements?

Workshops and guest lectures are frequently organised in college. Be it communication skills or body language etiquettes in an interview, she is being taught to all the students. She even got a call from a company recently but it was far from home so she did not join.

Lastly, your reasons for choosing this college for Adhya?

Adhya always wanted to do something in fashion. Other colleges teaching fashion are very expensive but admission here is really affordable. Besides, this college is in proximity to our home and boasts of a superb level of education. This is the ideal place for my child!
