Choosing the right school for your child is a big decision, but it is important to take the time to find the best school for your child’s individual needs. By doing your research and considering all of the factors involved, you can make the best decision for your child’s future.

More so, since India has a variety of education boards, each with its own curriculum. Also, different schools use different teaching methods. Therefore, when it comes to parents like Sonika Dixit, a teacher herself, there were a few considerations.

In an impromptu interview, she talks about her daughter, Mishhika Atri who is in the nursery at Apeejay Svran Global, Sector 21-D in Faridabad, and her learning progress.

How and why did you choose this branch?

To be very honest, the school is 15 steps away from where I live. Besides this huge advantage, there were a few other things. When I was studying BEd, I had the opportunity to train at Apeejay School, Pitampura for six months. I am well-versed with Apeejay’s brand value and its teaching methodology. Second, before I admitted my daughter, I spoke to a few people, and the school came highly recommended.

How has the learning progress been for Mishhika?

I have seen some good changes in her. I am happy that she has learnt quite a few things. My daughter is slightly struggling with writing small A, B, C… This is because the school has not prescribed a workbook that has dots on which the child can practice. I can understand that the teacher can’t do this exercise for all the students in the class.

But the class teacher was very nice and reassured me that come January my daughter will be proficient and that I should give time to the child. In the meantime, she has learnt several English words and she can read two-letter words.

Are the parent-teacher meetings held regularly?

Her class teacher is very good. I attend all of them and I get positive feedback about my daughter which is good; it is good to know that she is doing well in the class. There have been a few issues which I would like to take to the principal. I am confident that the administration will pay heed to what I have to say. After all the school has students’ interests at heart.

Just before I had admitted Mishhika into the class I had taken feedback from 10 parents about the class teacher and I had only heard great things about her. I am happy my daughter is in good hands.

Does your daughter participate in school activities?

At present, she is just a toddler. I have not put her in any of the activities. But any class activity and she is there. Recently, the school held a poem recitation and she participated in that. I even have a video of her on the stage.

Does your daughter like going to the school?

Definitely. Unlike other children who cry, because they have to go to school, Mishhika loves to go to school. She loves her teacher as well which is a good sign for the parents. When she was in play school, she used to scream and cry in the morning. But at Apeejay, she loves it here. This is another positive for me.
