Try imagining the world’s best cake without icing! Doesn’t look that great, does it? The reason is simple, finishing is what makes the end result great. And not just in this field, even in education,  personality grooming has always been an essential part. In fact, this is the very foundation of various finishing schools around the world.

Therefore, to tailor their students industry ready, Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, recently organised a three days comprehensive workshop on “Aptitude and Skill Development” in collaboration with Rubicon Skill Development Pvt. Ltd. The workshop was crafted carefully for all final year students. Mr. Santosh Kalsi, an established soft skill trainer from Rubicon Skill Development firm guided students through the workshop as the chief resource person.

Attended by more than 80 students, the interactive workshop included various sessions on interview preparation, group discussion and resume/CV writing. The workshop commenced with a quiz followed by an informative presentation on organisational structure and goal setting. Students learned the very basics of introducing oneself through mock interviews. Students were guided on answering trick questions via real life examples. The workshop also provided key communication skills tips to the students. The differences between group discussion and free speech were explained and an SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat) analysis test was performed individually on every student.

The second day’s resource person was Mr Kalsi, who emphasised on corporate jargon and explained the necessary precautions to be taken for a successful tenure in corporate life. The resource person also accentuated email and phone call etiquettes during the session.

The final day was all about the importance of good body language and posture. Students learned about the importance of team work at the work environment through a fun group activity.

Top resumes along with CV writing tools were shared with students. It was followed by a quick assessment test to test the progress of students. Every student present in the workshop scored first division and received a certificate of achievement. MBA student Manya Wadehra and B Tech student Raavi Chauhan scored 90% each, thereby topping the scoresheet at the workshop.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director at AIMETC, appreciated the initiative undertaken by faculty members for organising this workshop. While applauding the students for their participation he said, “I encourage each one of you to imbibe the learnings from the workshop for it will aid in your holistic development.” He further explained to all students the importance of personality development and wished them well in all their future endeavours.
