Lohri marks the end of winter and the beginning of the spring season. This festival is also celebrated to mark the end of the sowing of winter crops. The festival is celebrated by igniting a fire and offering til (sesame), crystal sugar, jaggery, peanuts, and popcorn to the fire. The fire is significant for the festival as it carries messages and prayers to the Sun God for warmth.

We at Apeejay School International celebrated the festival by hosting a special assembly, which included dance performances by Sia Arora from Primary Year Programme- IV and a group dance by Diploma Programme- I students.

Along with the students, the parent fraternity also gathered for this celebration. They shared insights into the significance of the day and also talked about folk tales behind the festival. They also highlighted India’s diversity and how this festival is celebrated across the country with much fun and fervour.

All in all, the festival was celebrated by rejoicing on the occasion and learning the importance of the same.
