Learning the language of diplomacy
Young delegates of Apeejay School, Pitampura, prepare and train for Kaizen MUN 6.0
Model United Nations conferences ask students to think beyond the classroom. They learn to study global issues, present arguments, listen to opposing views, and work towards a common solution. With this purpose, the first training session for Kaizen MUN 6.0 was held at Apeejay School, Pitampura, recently.
The session brought together students from Classes IV to XII. It aimed to prepare both first-time participants and experienced delegates for the conference scheduled for August 21 and 22, 2026.
Understanding the MUN process
The training was led by Mr Saksham Tuteja, Chief Advisor, and Mr Tarun Malik. Both are accomplished MUNers and together have participated in more than 250 Model United Nations conferences.
They introduced students to the basic structure of an MUN. The discussion covered committee procedures, research, public speaking, diplomacy, and resolution drafting. Each area was explained simply and practically so that students could understand how a committee works from the opening session to the final resolution.
The trainers also shared useful tips on how delegates can prepare for their assigned countries and committees. Students learnt that strong participation depends not only on speaking eloquently but also on careful research, attentive listening, and the ability to respond with clarity.
Questions, doubts, and practical guidance
The session remained interactive throughout. Students raised questions about preparation, committee conduct, speeches, and the challenges they may face during a conference. These queries were addressed with practical suggestions drawn from the trainers’ experience.
For beginners, the session offered a clear starting point. For experienced delegates, it served as a chance to strengthen their approach and review important aspects of participation.
Preparing for Kaizen MUN 6.0
By the end of the session, students had a deeper understanding of what effective MUN participation requires. The training helped them see MUN as more than a formal debate. It involves preparation, teamwork, diplomacy, and responsible decision-making.
