Focusing on a child’s holistic development during their foundational years is what leads them to a successful life, believes Aditi Davar, a teacher at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Delhi. To achieve it, she has been passionately working to engage kids in her classroom through innovative ways. In an interview, she tells us more about her journey:
Tell us about your educational background.
I did my schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary School. I graduated in Political Science Honours from Jesus & Mary College, followed by a correspondence MBA from Symbiosis where I specialised in Marketing. I also completed a Montessori course from Ardee School, and I am a certified Jolly Phonics facilitator.
What inspired you to become a teacher, and how did you get started in the field?
I believe teaching is the noblest profession. What led me to choose this profession was to have a positive and inspiring impact on children’s lives, which can be achieved by being kind, caring, passionate, and funny. I started my journey in 2016.

How long have you been associated with Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld and how would you describe the journey?
I will be completing four years of my journey this July. It has been a very inspiring, motivational, innovative, and progressive experience in every aspect.

How important is children’s holistic development?
Holistic development emphasises on the all-round development of a child, particularly during his early years. Children learn to recognise their emotions and develop better communication and social skills. Holistic development helps a child by allowing him to develop strong inner values and confidence.

How do you maintain work-life balance?
Set manageable goals each day, request flexibility, communicate effectively, get support, stay active, and get help if you need it—that’s what I follow.
As a teacher, how do you stay motivated?
I explore, research, and discuss with my colleagues how to make my classes more interesting, thought provoking, exciting, and interactive so that the children are engaged and happy. That’s my source of motivation. I participate in workshops as that keeps the mind active and it is a great learning experience.
