Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, came alive with spirited discussions and intellectual enthusiasm during its much-awaited Inter-house English Debate Competition. The debate centred around the topical issue: Is Technology Making Our Lives Better? , which sparked engaging arguments and diverse viewpoints from students representing all four houses — Kabir, Nanak, Gautam, and Tagore.
The event served as an excellent platform for young debaters to showcase their eloquence, critical thinking, and oratory skills. Participants delved deep into the advantages and drawbacks of technology in today’s world. Many applauded technology’s contributions to healthcare, education, and communication, emphasising how these advancements have simplified and enriched daily life. On the other hand, some debaters expressed concerns over technology’s adverse effects on mental health, reduced social interactions, and environmental issues, presenting a balanced and nuanced discussion.

A panel of distinguished educators, respected for their academic expertise and fairness, judged the competition. The judges carefully evaluated each speaker’s arguments, delivery, and ability to rebut opposing points.
The standout performer of the event was Hiral Godara from Class IX, representing Kabir House, who won the title of Best Debater for her confident delivery, structured arguments, and quick-witted rebuttals. Following closely was Sunidhi of Class IX from Nanak House, who earned the second position with her insightful and well-articulated presentation. The third position was shared by Isha from Class IX and Livanshi from Class XI, both of whom impressed the judges with their mature and persuasive arguments.

Beyond individual performances, the competition fostered strong team spirit and healthy rivalry. Ultimately, Gautam House clinched the overall trophy, showcasing the strength and consistency of its participants.
The event was graced by the Principal of the school, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, who praised the students’ efforts and the English department for organising the competition. He emphasised the vital role such platforms play in shaping articulate, confident, and socially aware future leaders.

“Debating is a vital life skill, and I am immensely proud of our students for engaging with such a thought-provoking topic. This event showcased not only their oratory abilities but also their depth of understanding. Congratulations to all participants and winners. Keep
questioning, keep speaking, and keep growing,” Dr Vasishtha said.
The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, leaving everyone inspired by the power of words and the art of debate — a truly memorable occasion that celebrated critical thinking and courageous expression.
