Engineering Ideas Take Centre Stage at this Jalandhar Institute
From smart dustbins to assistive technology, Engineer’s Day celebration featured students turning innovative concepts into practical solutions
Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, celebrated Engineers’ Day 2026 with enthusiasm and fervour, commemorating the birth anniversary of eminent Indian engineer and Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The celebration focused on innovation, creativity, technology and problem-solving, in line with the theme, “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future Through Innovation and Digitalization.”
The event provided students with a platform to demonstrate how engineering concepts can be translated into practical solutions addressing everyday challenges. Adding vibrancy to the celebrations, B.Tech students showcased a range of innovative models and projects, including a Smart Dustbin, Home Automation System, Car Parking System, Plant Watering System and Vision X Stick for the visually impaired. These projects reflected the students’ creativity and their ability to explore technology for developing smart, accessible and meaningful solutions.
The celebrations also highlighted the close relationship between mathematics and engineering through eight mathematical models based on the Pythagorean theorem, trigonometry and geometry. The models demonstrated how fundamental mathematical concepts can find practical applications in engineering and everyday life, encouraging students to look beyond theoretical learning.
An interactive Engineers’ Day Quiz added an engaging academic dimension to the programme. Students participated enthusiastically, testing their technical knowledge while exploring important concepts related to engineering, technology and innovation. The activity encouraged them to learn, think critically and challenge themselves beyond conventional classroom learning.
Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members. Emphasising the evolving role of engineers, he said, “The future of engineering lies in innovation, digitalization, sustainability, and responsible technology — the key to building a resilient and sustainable nation.”
He further underscored the broader purpose of innovation, noting, “Innovation is not just about creating new ideas; it is about creating smarter, sustainable, and resilient solutions for tomorrow.” His message encouraged students to approach engineering not merely as a technical discipline but as a means of creating solutions with a positive and lasting impact.
The celebration thus brought together technical knowledge, creativity and practical problem-solving, giving students an opportunity to present their ideas and appreciate the role of engineering in shaping a sustainable future. The projects and activities reflected the importance of combining conceptual understanding with experimentation and application.
The successful celebration was coordinated by Dr. Nipun Chhabra, Mr. Naveen Chadha, Mr. Anshul Kaura and Ms. Disha Sachdeva. Their dedicated efforts contributed to making the programme engaging, informative and inspiring for the students.
The Engineers’ Day celebration concluded on a meaningful note, reinforcing the importance of innovation, digital technology, sustainability and responsible engineering in preparing young minds to contribute to the development of a resilient and sustainable nation.
