Muskan Patnia, a class 12 student at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg is a terrific artist. Not only does she love painting but also has a penchant for dress designs. The budding artist who sees a future in fashion designing, gives us an insight into her artistic world in this week’s Aspiring Artist interview as she shares how painting is her go to thing when she is stressed. Read edited excerpts:

Since when did you start drawing?

I have been drawing since I was 5 or 6 years of age. I started out very young.

That is lovely to know. So, which art form do you enjoy the most?

Painting is my favourite art form.  I love painting because we can make any type of colour shades and texture by mixing two colours together. It is innovation straight from the imagination.

How does your school support you as an artist?

Everyone at the school encourages me a lot. The teachers and fellow students always appreciate my paintings and they have also been displayed on many occasions at the school notice board.

Every artist has a definition of art. What’s yours?

Art for me is something that cures my stress and helps me free my emotions trapped inside. We can let it all out through our art. Whenever I paint, it always releases my stress and fills me with a positive energy, motivating me to do better. I paint whenever I am overthinking or stressed out and it truly motivates me to move ahead in life.

How much time does it take you to complete an artwork?

It takes me a lot of time to complete a painting. One can say roughly 3 to 5 hours. I mostly do spiritual themed paintings or dress designs.

Upcoming artworks?

Anything that inspires me! I don’t waste time, I simply make a sketch of it.

A new art form you wish to learn?

I always want to learn new things. Right now, I am really interested in learning modern art.

Other hobbies apart from art?

I love singing and dancing a lot!
