How do you see this world?

I’d like to ask you a question: How do you perceive this world? Is it monochrome or as vibrant as a rainbow? The past three years of our lives have been different. Never in our wildest dream we would have thought that not only a pandemic will persist in our world but also various other atrocities.

During the initial period, while confined to our homes and learning about all the changes happening in our world, we have felt depressed, with one question repeatedly crossing our minds: When will all of this end? When can we return to normal? The recent developments in the world cannot be undone. Perhaps, if Doraemon could enter our lives and grant us a time machine, we might be able to alter the past.

Have you ever heard people saying that what’s done is done, and the damage has been done? Indeed, the damage has been done, and now it’s time to restore our world. Our world faces a myriad of problems, but we also possess solutions. Yet, as humans, we are either too lethargic to implement them or too afraid to try.

As the year draws to a close, each day seems to pass swiftly. In a year, everything can change. Seven seasons have come and gone; we have aged by a year and gained a touch of wisdom. We have evolved and grown. Mistakes were made, failures experienced, along with heartbreak, love, joy, and a range of other emotions. We acquired new knowledge and enjoyed new experiences. Just have faith that the coming year will be different. I sincerely hope it will be.

In this world, there are essentially two types of people: the optimists and the realists. Yet, I believe one can embody both traits – an optimistic realist. This perspective acknowledges reality while still maintaining the belief that the glass is half full. By thinking in this manner, we can better analyse the world around us.

If today you find yourself seeing yourself and the world in monochrome, try altering your mindset to effect small changes in society, and most importantly, as Maya Angelou said, “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” By doing so, you will transform and undoubtedly perceive this world in all the colours you’ve ever wished for, all in serene balance and complete symmetry.

Starting today, I encourage you to seize each day. Grasp onto new beginnings and relish life’s little joys. Embark on a journey of self-discovery. This world is your canvas – paint and fill it as you desire. On my canvas, I seek equilibrium and love.

To new beginnings, to failure, to laughter, and to joy; may the upcoming year be better, brighter, and kinder!
