Webinars in schools are vital as they offer students direct access to experts and real-world knowledge, bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical application. These interactive sessions expose students to diverse fields, spark curiosity, and inspire critical thinking. By engaging with professionals, students gain insights into potential career paths and contemporary issues, broadening their perspectives.
For the same, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, recently hosted an engaging webinar titled “Following Insect’s Trail: An Entomologist’s Journey Through Her Research,” designed for students from classes VI to X.

This insightful session was organised by the Science Club of the school was delivered by Ms Gauri Gharpure, a PhD scholar from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore. Ms Gauri shared her captivating experiences as an entomologist, offering a virtual exploration of the mountains of Leh, Spiti Valley, and Sikkim.

During the webinar, Ms Gauri delved into the intriguing aspects of plant variation with elevation and discussed the underlying causes behind these changes. She captivated the students by sharing her research work from the Chemical Ecology Lab, highlighting the critical role of insect-flower interactions in pollination and their importance within ecosystems. The session was not only informative but also deeply inspiring, igniting a newfound curiosity among students to explore the diverse world of entomology.

Webinars like this are essential for school students as they provide exposure to real-world scientific research and ignite a passion for exploration beyond the classroom. Such events allow young minds to interact with professionals, broadening their understanding of various fields and inspiring them to consider careers in science.
