From campaigns to speeches, Delhi schools raise awareness on the ban of single-use plastics

Delhi schools are actively making efforts to raise awareness about the ban on single-use plastics from July 1, 2022. Several schools are organising poster-making competitions, encouraging students to create signages about the harmful effects of plastic while impressing upon the importance of finding alternatives to plastic.

In May, Delhi government had issued an order asking all schools to set up a separate room within the schools’ premises to store reusable utensils as part of its plan to phase out single-use plastic (SUP). The Directorate of Education (DoE) in a letter to schools stated how they need to replace plastic dishes with those made of steel or glass etc.

In addition to this, several resident welfare associations (RWAs) are also contributing to the drive by engaging their members.
