It is vital for any professional or organisation to adapt to evolving industries while embracing continuous learning and flexible work structures. This ensures individuals and organisations stay competitive and resilient in the dynamic job market. Thus, as a university partner of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants),  School of Management Sciences (SoMS),  Apeejay Stya University, attended a thought-provoking session titled “The Future of Work: Skilling and Mobility”. The session was hosted by ACCA.

The Faculty Coordinator from ASU was Professor Akanchha Singh and a total of 4 members participated from the University. The session focused on a thorough exploration of the evolving work landscape, emphasising the vital roles of skills and mobility in shaping the future trajectory.

The keynote speaker for the session was Helen Brand, the chief executive of ACCA, who delved deeply into the ever-evolving panorama of accountancy, initiating a lively discourse on the skill sets anticipated for the future, the challenges that lie ahead, and the transformative impact that ACCA’s support has the potential to exert, thereby serving as a pivotal factor in navigating and overcoming those challenges.

The discussions transcended theoretical realms, delving into pragmatic territories by addressing tangible real-world challenges and fostering collaborative strategies aimed at elevating the accountancy profession. It is undeniably invigorating to observe the profound commitment exhibited by those involved as they actively guide aspiring future members along the intricate paths of their career journeys.

This gathering with partners, learning providers, and an expanded audience of students, affiliates, and members served as a paramount source of enriched learning experiences. The interactions offered a comprehensive understanding of the challenges encountered by students on their educational journey. This valuable feedback was then channeled back into the system, fueling increased dedication to addressing and resolving these issues. Particularly, the focus intensified on enhancing solutions related to placements and formulating strategic roadmaps tailored to the specific needs of students.

Further, the session revolved around a dedicated exploration of the continually unfolding terrain of work, placing significant emphasis on the indispensable roles played by skills and mobility in sculpting the trajectory of the future. Moreover, the culmination of the event featured a dynamic and participatory question-and-answer session, creating a platform for students to actively engage with the speakers, seek valuable insights, and obtain guidance regarding the intricate pathways of their future career journeys.
