As part of an exceptional educational event that left an indelible mark on students and faculty alike, Apeejay School International (ASI), Panchsheel Park had the honour of hosting Dr Ishita G Tripathy, a seasoned IES (Indian Economic Service) officer with an impressive 24-year tenure in the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). Dr Tripathy’s visit provided a profound insight into the intricate workings of the government, economics, and public policy, shaping a holistic educational experience for students.

The session commenced with her explanation about the illuminating the meticulous process behind the creation of the annual Economic Survey and the Budget. Her exposition shed light on how these crucial documents are carefully formulated to steer economic policies and allocate resources effectively. This deep dive offered students a nuanced understanding of the government’s fiscal planning and its reverberations on the nation.

Expanding on this, Dr Tripathy introduced the concept of public goods, underscoring their profound significance in society. This segment of the presentation urged young minds to contemplate the wider social ramifications of government policies, providing a framework for critical thinking and civic engagement.

Drawing on her extensive experience in the MSME sector, she unveiled a comprehensive overview of the pivotal role and significance of MSMEs in India’s economic landscape.
