Here I am today to tell you about the name of a beautiful city namely, ‘Jalandhar’. I was very surprised when I heard about an Asur named as my city ‘Jalandhar’ in a mythological show.

Do you know how was Jalandhar named? This city was named after Asur Raaj Jalandhar who was born from the flames of anger coming from Shivji’s third eye. Those flames went to the ocean, out of which Jalandhar was born. He was named as Jalandhar (Jalandhar means water and andhar means inside). So he had the powers of both, fire and water. Being born through the anger of Shivji made Jalandhar very powerful.  Thus, he is considered as a part of Shivji. His wife, named Vrinda (an incarnation of Tulsi Mata) who was a great devotee of Vishnu ji.

Jalandhar, in the arrogance of his power, started wrongdoings, and defeating him became necessary. So Shivji himself fought with Jalandhar. After Jalandhar’s defeat his soul joined Shivji just as Mata Vrinda’s joined her husband before his fight. The city ‘Jalandhar’ is believed to be the  place where Jalandhar was born and the fight between Shivji & Jalandhar took place.

The city of Jalandhar is believed to be the place where Jalandhar was born and where the epic battle between Lord Shiva and Jalandhar took place.

The legend not only highlights the consequences of misusing power but also the ultimate win of divine forces over negative powers.

For the historical significance of the city of Jalandhar, there is a temple built which is dedicated to Mata Vrinda, the wife of Jalandhar. This temple holds great importance as a sacred place. The temple of Jalandhar is dedicated to Mata Vrinda and remains a significant and revered site, preserving the spiritual legacy. The devotees often visit this sacred temple to pay homage to Mata Vrinda.
