Delhi schools set to welcome junior classes from Feb 14

Schools in the national capital are preparing to welcome junior class students on Monday. Schools returned for classes 9 to 12 on Monday (February 7) after a lengthy closure owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, while classes nursery to 8 will reopen on Monday, February 14.

While the Centre has opted to leave the requirement of parental agreement for pupils to physically attend schools to the states, the Delhi government has decided to stick with it. There is no 50 percent student limit, and schools are free to determine the number of students depending on their infrastructure while still adhering to the Covid regulations.

According to the reopening criteria stipulated by the The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) schools must use all access and exit gates and provide adequate thermal scanners and thorough sanitisation of the premises.

Lunch breaks should be staggered to reduce crowding and held in an open location, according to standard operating protocols, and students should be given school counselling and advice to help them acclimatise to the new normal.
