Beyond the confines of traditional academic subjects, art serves as a dynamic channel through which students can explore their emotions, perspectives, and the world around them.

It encourages creativity, fosters critical thinking, and cultivates a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and human experiences. Whether through visual, performing, or literary forms, engagement with art empowers young minds to develop a unique voice, build confidence, and navigate the complexities of their educational journey with greater insight and resilience. In essence, art becomes a vital thread in the fabric of a student’s life, weaving creativity and imagination into the tapestry of their educational experience.

In a celebration of artistic spirit, Apeejay School, Noida, in collaboration with Camlin, recently hosted ‘Sui Generis’. This event was a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing the creative potential of its students. The occasion proved to be a vibrant canvas for budding Picassos and Van Goghs, where they could freely explore the world of colours, letting their imaginations take flight.

This art competition was meticulously crafted, catering to three distinct groups, each with its unique theme and materials. From the youngest artists in Kindergarten, drawing inspiration from their favourite toys, to the older students diving into the rich tapestry of Indian festivals and zoo visits, and finally, the IIIrd and IVth graders delving into the kaleidoscope of festivities and fun fairs – every participant was armed with an array of Camlin art supplies, including oil pastels, wax crayons, plastic crayons, watercolour cakes, tubes, and premium colour pencils.

The venue, the Clubhouse at Mahagun Moderne in Sector 78, Noida, provided an ambience conducive to artistic expression. More than a hundred school students participated from across Delhi-NCR on the big day. In addition to this, seven student volunteers from Apeejay School, Noida aided in the smooth functioning of the event.

It was here that students embarked on a journey of self-discovery, using colours to translate their thoughts and emotions onto the canvas. Four such namely, Adhrit Gupta, Aalekhya Soni, Vedanshi Dixit, and Rhythm Malik emerged as the victors in the prestigious art competition from Apeejay School, Noida. Each artist brought their unique vision and skill to the canvas, showcasing the diverse range of artistic expression. Their names will undoubtedly be etched into the annals of the school’s artistic legacy, inspiring future generations of budding artists.

According to Dr Seema Sharma, Head of Department – Chemistry at Apeejay School, Noida, who was one of organisers of the programme, “Students found a way to express themselves through art as part of this event. Further, I would like to express gratitude to Vice-Principals at Apeejay School, Noida, Ms Amrita Hajela and Ms Sonal Srivastava, for encouraging me to take up the opportunity. This would not have been possible without the support of my colleagues, Ms Smriti Samuel, Ms Tapasya Gaur, Ms Neetu Thapliyal and Ms Nidhi, all of whom are educators in the school.”

The event was nothing short of spectacular, with an explosion of creativity that left an indelible mark on every participant. The resounding success of ‘Sui Generis’ could be attributed to the genuine passion and enthusiasm with which students poured their hearts onto the canvases.
