Recently, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, organised a special morning assembly on the theme Dussehra – Who Is the Real Ravana? Presented by the students of Class VII under the guidance of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education, the assembly offered a meaningful reflection on the true significance of Dussehra and the importance of nurturing moral values.

Moving beyond the traditional narrative of Lord Ram’s victory over Ravana, the students encouraged everyone to look within and identify the negative traits that often influence human behaviour. Through a creative and impactful presentation, they portrayed different forms of Ravana, symbolising evils such as anger, jealousy, greed, ego and falsehood. The performance highlighted how these inner weaknesses can affect our thoughts, actions and relationships.

A symbolic Ravan-burning activity added significance to the assembly, as the students pledged to overcome their personal shortcomings and strive towards becoming better individuals. The presentation conveyed a powerful message that the festival’s true essence lies not merely in burning an effigy of Ravana but in conquering the evils within ourselves.

The assembly was graced by the presence of the school’s Principal, Mr AK. Sharma, and Vice-principal, Ms Loveleen Bagga, along with teachers and students. Appreciating the thoughtful efforts of the young presenters, the Principal encouraged students to imbibe the values of truth, honesty, humility and righteousness in their everyday lives. He emphasised the importance of translating these principles into meaningful actions and making conscious choices that reflect integrity and compassion.

The assembly proved to be an engaging and thought-provoking experience for the school community. By connecting the timeless message of Dussehra with everyday challenges, the students inspired everyone to introspect, recognise their inner weaknesses and work towards overcoming them.

The presentation concluded with the reminder that the real victory of good over evil begins within, and that every individual can contribute to a more compassionate and harmonious society by choosing goodness over negativity.
