When Diksha Mehra, the topper of Apeejay School, Saket,  saw her CBSE Class XII Board Exam result, she  experienced a mixed of feelings. Scoring 97.4% she emphasised, “All the work I did throughout the year paid off well. My mom was elated and my teachers were very proud. It was a satisfying moment overall as I believed that I was going to get good marks”.

Diksha scored 100 in Biology and shared, “I focused on studying consistently throughout the year instead of depending on last minute preparations. I think that this is really helpful and doesn’t burden your mind as well when exams are near. I believe it’s better to stay disciplined and consistent rather than studying long hours for a few days.”

She credited her school and teachers for their support throughout her preparation. “The notes given by my teachers were really good and helped a lot in the preparation. All my teachers were approachable and guided me whenever I had doubts which help me stay focused.”

Diksha, who aspires to pursue a career in the medical or research field, further mentioned, “I didn’t feel a lot of stress because I was confident in my preparation. I did feel pressure some times but I never let it overwhelm me. I mostly focused on my progress.”

When asked how she managed her exam pressure, she emphasised, “I tried my best to stay calm because many times stress and worries can make you forget things that you have practiced a lot. I just kept reminding myself to trust my preparations and focus on one question at a time. I think if you start an exam with a positive mindset then it will go well as compared to when you’re scared or worried.”

Another topper from Apeejay School, Saket Ibrahim Ahmad scored 95.4% and is extremely happy. “All the hard work, consistency, and support from my teachers and parents finally paid off. I remember I was sleeping at the time when my mother came to me with the result and I was looking at it half asleep. It was a very emotional and proud moment for me and my family. My teachers were really helpful throughout the year, and they were very happy to see my efforts reflected in the results. My parents were proud and emotional because they were counting on me at every stage of my preparation.”

The achiever scored well in Physics, Chemistry and English with Chemistry being the highest with 99/100 which helped him become the topper in PCM.

He further expressed, “My school played a major role in my preparation. The teachers were always available to clear doubts and guide us whenever needed. Regular tests, revision classes, and practice sessions helped me identify my weak areas and improve them. The school provides a competitive environment which I like the most as it pushes us to do more. During the last few months teachers kept sharing multiple sample papers and practice material which was really useful.”

“For a general strategy I would say repeated mock tests really help one develop a muscle for writing these exams, how you write is also as important as what you know. And when it came to the learning part I had a different approach for different subjects and I really want to thank my older brother Fawaz Ahmad, an ex-student of this school, who guided me how to plan my study,” said Ibrahim.

He further said, “In subjects with more information to memorise like organic equations and inorganic which were also my weak points I would make small and concise notes including all the content which is much easier to memorise.”

Ibrahim is aspiring to continue his studies in the field of science and pursue engineering. He is also planning to apply to foreign universities for and looking forward to studying in the field of computer science.

The high scorer mentioned, “I don’t think I ever did anything to “manage” my stress. I honestly never felt stressed for my studies particularly. I can always advise the juniors that whatever happens in life happens on the basis of what you do and not what you feel so try to focus on the doing part instead of the overthinker inside you. I remember this great saying by Alexander The Great, ‘In the end when it’s all over, all that matters is what you’ve done.’”
