It is perhaps rightly said that children learn more via examples than through mere words. The impact of having learnt a lesson hands on stays with one for a long time. Thus, a careful look would find that at the core of it, the process of learning is application based.  In cognizance with this thought, Apeejay School, Noida organised a day-long excursion to Kidzania, an indoor theme park in Delhi-NCR, for its primary department. All the students from classes 3 to 5 enjoyed the tour to this indoor theme park.

Mrs. Smriti Samuel, Primary School teacher In-charge, apprised the teachers and students alike about the excursion programme. Kidzania, a safe, unique and interactive indoor theme park has been created to empower, inspire and educate children through various hands-on activities. Built like a city in itself, the indoor theme park is complete with paved roads, battery operated cars, proper buildings, a functioning economy and its own currency. By blending reality with entertainment, it provides an authentic and powerful developmental platform where the students explore and learn about the real-world occupations.

Students enjoyed understanding about real-world occupations in private services, public services, entertainment industry, airline industry, automobile industry, food industry and other spheres of life. Students played the role of a pilot, surgeon, detective, chef, engineer, TV producer, radio jockey, car mechanic and many other professions with full gusto.

The students returned back to school with wonderful memories to share with their parents. The excursion strengthened in them the value for dignity of labour. In addition, this trip enabled them to appreciate the contribution of each member of the society and made them reflect upon the challenges faced by each working individual in the real-world.

“Experiential learning develops skills and competencies of students, making them holistic, life-long learners. It empowers them with the tools to convert information and knowledge into requisite skills that could be employed for success in their professions.”
