Four class VIII students from Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, went on a trip to Singapore, organised by Valedra International, for four nights and five days. A total of 63 students from schools across Delhi, Navi Mumbai, and Jalandhar explored the destination together. The students not only visited top tourist destinations but also got a chance to interact with locals to learn about their traditions and culture.

Manthan Taneja, one of the students from Apeejay Svran Global said, “It was my birthday and my parents gave me a surprise by booking this trip for me. It was wonderful to celebrate my birthday with my friends while enjoying the hotspots of Singapore. Every day was like an adventure, and it was one of the best trips I have had so far. In fact, we had a great time with the teachers too who took part in all activities with us.”

Among the places that the children visited were Universal Studios, SG Mobility Centre, NEWater plant and Sentosa Island. “I liked Universal Studios and Sentosa the best,” Manthan said.

There were two parts to the trip—educational and recreational. “At the water plant, we learnt about the water management system in Singapore and how dams and canals operate. We also visited the Science Museum where various scientific marvels were explained in detail through experiments,” said Manthan’s classmate Vikrant Singh.

Talking about the decision to go to Singapore, the student added, “My parents and I decided on the trip together because education isn’t just confined to books. To know more about the world, we should step out and explore new things and learn. And I am glad to have been part of such a great experience.

“On the fun side, we had a great time at the Sentosa beach. I loved the movie-themed rides at Universal Studios. The trip was a perfect mix of learning and fun.”

Ojas Dev Ahuja, another student from the same class, mentioned he had the “best time” at Universal Studios, Sentosa Island Aquarium, ropeway, and Science Museum. “I wanted to be a part of the experience with my friends and that’s why I went to Singapore. I enjoyed the food there, my favourite being bubble tea.

Added Avishi Bhadouria, the fourth participant from the school, “I wanted to travel outside of our country and explore new things, and this trip turned out to be the perfect opportunity. I felt homesick the first day but adjusted very quickly, thanks to my friends. I had a wonderful experience!”

The students also learnt about the city’s smart urban planning. “I was impressed to see so many people use bicycles instead of cars to prevent pollution. The beautiful gardens across Singapore fascinated all of us,” the class VIII student shared.

Explaining what the students learnt about the congregation of cultures in Singapore, Vikrant stated, “The tour guide George Lee explained how Singapore, which used to be a fishing town, became home to immigrants from different nations like India, China, and Malaysia, whose traditions influenced the culture of Singapore. I also had great interactions with the students from other schools.”

The trip was quite successful. Sanjoy Roy, Chief Operating Officer, Valedra, said, “The successful completion of the school’s educational trip to vibrant Singapore marks a significant milestone in our students’ academic journey. Through experiential learning, cultural immersion, and personal growth opportunities, the students not only gained a deeper understanding of various subjects but also fostered a global perspective and a thirst for knowledge. As an institute, Valedra takes immense pride in the profound impact this trip has had on the students. As students navigate new horizons and engage with people from different backgrounds, they will develop valuable life skills that will serve them well beyond their academic years. We are confident that the memories, lessons, and friendships forged during this educational trip will have a lasting positive influence on the students’ lives.”
