Mrs. Swati Sharma is a homemaker and a former designer at Boutique International, a garment export house in Okhla, Delhi. Her husband Mr. Sonu Sharma is a motivational speaker and a corporate trainer with Vestige and Dynamic India. Their daughter Chahat Sharma is a class 10 student at Apeejay School, Faridabad.

In a wide-ranging interview, Mrs. Sharma highlights how the school makes the students capable enough to survive in all kinds of situations in life. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay Faridabad ahead of other schools for Chahat’s admission?

It was actually my dream to study at Apeejay School, Faridabad. We were three kids and my father was a government servant. So, the fee structure was a bit high to send all three of us there. However, upon growing up, I always wanted my child to study at Apeejay Faridabad. I have always liked the way they make things easy for the students. We never wanted a five-star hotel kind of schooling for my kid. I do not want my daughter to grow up to be a dainty darling. I wanted her to grow in a normal atmosphere so that she can adjust anywhere later in her life.

Please tell us a bit about Chahat and take us through her progress at school?

Chahat is a very independent and cheerful girl. Apeejay School, Faridabad, has bestowed these strengths upon her. She mixes with everyone very easily and participates in dancing and other group activities. Her favourite subjects at school are English and Math. She is an all-rounder and likes all the subjects. She is a favourite with all her teachers.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

Yes, they are teaching very well. I would not like to thank just a single teacher but would instead thank each and every teacher for their continuous effort and guidance. It is a group effort.

What is the best thing about Apeejay School, Faridabad?

Many schools don’t entertain the parents. They don’t listen to their queries at all. That liberty itself is not given to the parents that they can reach to the teachers with their queries. It has been so many years at Apeejay School, Faridabad now, I have personal contact numbers of all the teachers and I can also reach the principal in case of any emergency. It is like both the teachers and the parents are working together for the child’s growth and welfare.

How was the experience of the online classes for Chahat?

It was very good. She was able to understand everything but of course the kids nowadays are smart enough to dodge the teachers in the online classes (laughs) but the classes were very nice and regular. The students missed the school but the school organised so many different programmes and activities to keep them occupied.

Now that the schools have reopened, is Chahat happy to be back for offline classes?

Yes, she is super excited to be back at school (laughs)
