All institutes to be part of NIRF rankings, schools will be accredited soon: Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stated that by next year, institutional accreditation will be harmonised and every higher education institution will be a part of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

According to the minister, soon there would also be a system in place that will require all schools in the nation to be accredited. He declared that the standards for assessment and accreditation would be self-declaration and transparency.

“By next year, we will unify institutional accreditation which is presently done by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and the programme accreditation is presently done by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). From next year, the NIRF ranking categories will also include innovation and entrepreneurship. Work is already going on the rankings of the ITIs and polytechnics,” he said.
