‘A splintered spirit’: Poem by Girisha and Alisha, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park

A broken soul,
Seeks for solitude,
Healing in the world,
But finds no sympathy, only pain and cold.
A newspaper arrives
And then away is thrown
Just like a person’s heart
When it is broken.
A shattered glass,
Reflects the light in different ways,
Tries to repair the pieces into one,
Cuts itself with sharp edges.
A raindrop falls on earth,
Then evaporates back to the cloud,
Just like a fake friend,
Who leaves in the end.
A lonely bird,
Goes miles away,
Flies in the sky,
Without an army.
A student’s life
Starts with kindergarten
Goes through teenage
Ends with depression.
A splintered soul,
Has a restless heart,
Yearns for peace,
But finds no aid, only opposition and abuse.
A creature of misery,
Weeps amongst loops of pain,
Has a broken life,
But finds no charity, only hindrance and discouragement.
A jar of dreams,
With a million ideas,
But never explains,
The design of the dream.
