The 21st century has many unfortunate truths. One of them is the attitude towards both discipline and a person change the moment it does not bring any money. However, productivity cannot always be weighed solely on financial gains. Art leads to unmeasurable personal growth as well as social development and it is especially true in the case of poetry.

Apeejay School, Noida understands that just making students industry-ready is not enough to live a happy life. Students must be balanced both inside out and thus, the school keeps organising many activities, workshops and competitions to nurture valuable lessons among young learners.

In an endeavour to provide an opportunity to our young ones to discover their artistic self, display their innate talent and boost their self-confidence, a ‘Hindi Kavita Pratiyogita’ i.e. a Hindi poetry competition was organised by the school.

Students across class 2 participated in huge numbers in the preliminary rounds. Five students were selected from each section for the final round. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation as the finalists recited different poems on the theme of nature and seasons. Every finalist exuded confidence and exhibited their talent through effective voice modulation, facial expressions and oratorical skills.

Students were judged on parameters such as poem selection, confidence, clarity of speech and overall presentation. The students were full of zeal and displayed their talent with rigour using colourful props and costumes. This event provided a joyful learning experience and helped young students to strengthen their public-speaking skills.

The first prize was bagged by Arshi Gupta from class 2-C and the second position was awarded to Anaya Upadhyay from class 2-B. A best in each class prize was also given to boost the self-confidence of the students. Aashwe Minhas was the top performer from class 2-A, Kavya Gupta from class 2-B, Daivik Bisht from class 2-C, Dhriti Bhadauria from class 2-D and Enaya Goel from class 2-E.

In the end, the winners of the competition were awarded certificates.

Speaking about the event, Primary In-charge Mrs Smriti Samuel said, “These competitions really help students to enhance their speaking skills and make them aware about their surroundings and many issues in the world. I congratulate all winners and participants for their efforts. These activities also sensitize students towards many environmental issues as one addresses them through poems. My best wishes to all. ’”
