Tell us about your recent athletics event.

Recently, I participated in Kheda Vatan Punjab Dian in the U-14 category in both 1,000 and 500 metres. I secured two Bronze medals in both races in the Quads Skates category. I also qualified for the Punjab Khed Mela State Tournament 2024 to be held in November. Recently I also participated in the 68th District Roller Skating Championship 2024 in the U-11 category and secured two Gold. I have also qualified for the state tournament which is going to be held in Ludhiana.

What were the challenges you faced?

One of the biggest challenges that I faced was when I got to know that In Kheda Vatan Punjab Diyan I had to compete in the U -14 category. Back then I was only nine years old. I thought there was no way I could win. But it didn’t deter my spirit and I gave my absolute best and secured two Bronze medals. Another challenge was my hectic schedule. Along with being a skater, I am also a classical dancer. In November there is a dance competition. I have to practice for that as well.

How has Apeejay supported you?

As always, the devoted and dedicated faculty goes above and beyond to bring out the best in every student. I take immense pride in saying that I have had the privilege of receiving training from the best coach, an opportunity made possible only because of this school.

Will you pursue athletics in future?

My dream is to represent India in the Olympics and make my country proud. As mentioned earlier, along with being a skater I am also a classical dancer and I am also good at drawing. I have a lot of career options to choose from in the future.

Who is your inspiration?

My brother has always been my inspiration. When he was younger, he was passionate about skating, and watching him, I was motivated to start as well. Everything I’ve accomplished today is because of him. Recently, he was honoured with the prestigious Stya Paul Award for Human Values. I hope to follow in his footsteps.

Who is your favourite athlete and why?

Dhanush Babu is an Indian speed skater. He was the first Indian to secure an international roller skating medal for India. I also want to win a medal like him for India.

How has athletics changed your life personally?

Being physically fit and healthy will allow me to lead a good lifestyle. Athletics has increased the chances of me becoming a better person. It has helped me to improve values like discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, and accountability.
