A captivating spectacle of knowledge and creativity

An Inter house Mathematics competition ‘UNRAVELING MATH’S MASTERS’ was organised for class IX students on 11 December, 2023 at Apeejay School Noida, to honour the theories and concepts of various branches of mathematics and pay tribute to the pioneers who shared their findings with the world.

The talented students portrayed different mathematicians, creatively enlightening about various Mathematical concepts. There were four teams, one from each house, having two participants and focused on the history of mathematicians, contributions made by them in the field of mathematics, and applications of those contributions in daily life. Teams were evaluated on the basis of the attire of the students representing the mathematician, the PowerPoint presentation, usage of discovery in daily life and the clarity of the concept explained.

“This competition motivated the audience to explore the world around them and observe the application of various theories of Mathematics in everything we see and hear in nature like flora, fauna, climate, our own body, thunderstorm, lightning etc. Whatever advancements has taken place since the evolution of human beings has application of Mathematics in one form or the other,” shared Deepti Jain, TGT – Mathematics at Apeejay School, Noida.

Jain further added, “It was a great learning experience for participants who researched deeply about the chosen mathematician to have in depth knowledge of their discoveries and innovations and showcased remarkable creativity while giving their presentations.”

The Participants were judged on the basis of the Attire, Presentation and Importance of the discovery in daily life in the recent times. The audience witnessed a dynamic fusion of entertainment and education, learning not only about mathematical concepts but also gaining insights into the lives and contributions of historical mathematicians.

“This unique approach to the competition offered a holistic learning experience, emphasizing the relevance of mathematics in daily life. By personifying mathematical geniuses, students not only honed their problem-solving skills but also grasped the practical applications of math beyond textbooks,” expressed Shikha Singh, TGT- Mathematics at Apeejay School, Noida.

The event underscored the interdisciplinary nature of mathematics, fostering a deeper appreciation for its role in shaping various fields. Singh asserted further, “This unique approach to the competition offered a holistic learning experience, emphasizing the relevance of mathematics in daily life. By personifying mathematical geniuses, students not only honed their problem-solving skills but also grasped the practical applications of math beyond textbooks.”

Overall, the event not only celebrated mathematical excellence but also enriched the audience’s understanding of the subject’s real-world significance along with contributing to a positive and vibrant learning environment, making education more engaging and enjoyable for students.
