Riya Sharma is a student of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), who successfully completed her internship at Media Mantra Group, India’s top Public Relations Agency. She interned there for 2.5 months. Catching her in a quick interview, Riya speaks about her internship experience, time at AIMC and future aspirations.

Read edited excerpts:

Tell us about your internship experience?

I was in the business development team. As part of my work there I had to bring new clients on board. I was trained on how to approach the clients. I was given data and had to make calls to the clients. It was a very immersive work experience.

You were placed through the college campus placement?

Yes. The college professors trained me well. During the selection phase, we had many mock interview rounds, where we were taught how to face the panel with confidence. We were also taught how to conduct ourselves in group discussions.

And how has the time at AIMC been?

It has been a great journey. Professors guide me so well and it is because of the confidence and knowledge they instilled in me that I could perform well in the internship. I am indebted to them.

One life lesson learned?

50% hard work and 50 % smart work will give you miraculous results. It is a balance of these two.

And where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I aspire to work in a top position in a PR company. I want to make my own identity and I wish to work towards that.
