Apeejay School International in South Delhi recently hosted a 3 Way Conference on school premises, which was attended by Middle-Years-Programme (MYP) students, their parents, and instructors.

The 3 Way Conference allowed the learners to take a lead in sharing their strengths, areas for improvement, and learning objectives with the other members of the learning community, including instructors and parents. It actively engaged stakeholders in assessing student achievement and establishing future goals.

At the meeting, each parent, student, and instructor had a particular responsibility. Students presented their work in which they excelled, discussed their weaknesses, and set further targets on how to attain their goals. Parents were active listeners, who discussed their kid’s strengths and abilities to improve in the areas of work assigned while providing them with ideas that would help the children to further grow holistically.

Finally, teachers assisted in creating a comfortable environment for the students to conduct their conference as well as helped them on how to succeed in real life.

While expressing his views, Arjun Sharma, a student of MYP-II said, “My 3-way conference went really well. I asked my dad about my progress from the previous year, to which he mentioned that I have a lot more confidence. He also suggested that I shall improve on keeping up with my deadlines. It was a great event and I am looking forward to more such events, which would make us aware of our strengths and weaknesses”.

Another student, Rosanne Emma William of MYP- II said, “As a result, in my three-way conference, I identified my strong subjects as Music, Design, and I&S, as well as my weak subjects as Math, Science, and French. While I was nervous, I was still able to convey my ideas to the audience. Our class teacher gave us advice on how we might strengthen those weak topics. My mother told me to practice a lot, and since then I practiced day and night and made a lot of progress. I have worked on my weak areas as well as polished my strengths.”

I am grateful to the school for organising such events and conferences, where students like myself can share ideas and discuss their academics, sports and self-regulation aspects. These undoubtedly aid future growth of a learner. It was a great platform as we students got the opportunity to showcase our strengths and discuss our weaknesses. I am looking forward to more such events.
