On April 27, 2024, Apeejay School International (ASI) was abuzz with excitement as students from the Primary Years Programme, PYP-1 to PYP-4 proudly showcased their creative and intellectually stimulating projects at the school’s annual exhibition.
This year’s event, themed — Units of Inquiry — served as a platform for young minds to delve into diverse subjects that resonate with both historical contexts and contemporary societal challenges. The exhibition was a testament to the school’s commitment to holistic education, fostering not only academic excellence but also nurturing students’ curiosity and empathy towards global issues.
Each grade level undertook specific themes tailored to their academic levels, culminating in an impressive array of presentations that left parents and visitors deeply impressed. For the youngest participants, PYP-1 students, the focus was on exploring the evolution of transportation and comparing historical means of travel with modern advancements. Their display reflected an engaging mix of visual aids and interactive models, sparking an early interest in technological progress.
The students of PYP-2 dedicated their efforts to environmental awareness, tackling pressing issues like afforestation and renewable energy solutions. Their projects were not only informative but also showcased a budding sense of responsibility towards sustainability.
PYP-3 students delved into the realms of ancient civilisations, drawing inspiration from the rich histories of civilisations like the Indus Valley and Egypt. Their artistic expressions added a layer of cultural depth to the exhibition, highlighting the importance of preserving heritage.
The PYP-4 segment of the exhibition was particularly noteworthy; the students embraced entrepreneurship and innovation. The young entrepreneurs presented their creative products, including selling Happy Dog, Star Chocolates, Crochet Bouquets, Decorative Diaries to name a few demonstrating remarkable ingenuity and business acumen. Diyaa from PYP-4 showcased her skillful crafting through creatively decorated diaries, embodying the entrepreneurial spirit instilled by the school.
Parents and attendees marveled at the tangible growth and enthusiasm displayed by the students. Ms Moksha, the mother of Arisha, a PYP-4 student, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the school’s role in nurturing her daughter’s talents and passion. She lauded the exhibition as a testament to the transformative impact of ASI on young learners. “I am incredibly blessed seeing my 10-year-old daughter learning this much at such a young age,” the mother shared.
Similarly, Mr Prasoon Kaushik, father of Vaasvik Kaushik, praised the school’s academic prowess, noting significant improvements in his son’s educational journey. Inspired by Vaasvik’s progress, the father expressed a desire to enroll his younger one in ASI as well, underscoring the school’s reputation for academic excellence and holistic development.
Ms Neha Sharma, the DP-Coordinator, encapsulated the essence of the exhibition, “The IB-PYP exhibition was not just about showcasing knowledge, rather it was a celebration of curiosity, empathy, and the power of young minds to change the world.”
The exhibition was a resounding success, underscoring ASI’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to tackle real-world challenges with innovation and compassion.
Overall, the PYP exhibition at Apeejay School International transcended mere academic displays, embodying a celebration of youthful creativity, intellectual curiosity, and the profound impact of education on shaping conscientious global citizens.
