Orientation programmes play a crucial role in the educational journey of young children, from their earliest years through their formative stages. Starting from cradle to the crayons of their first classroom experiences, these programmes are designed to provide essential support not only to the students but also to their parents and caregivers.

To evoke a similar set of awareness amongst students, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg recently organised an Orientation Programme — from Cardle to Crayons for all the parents of the students. The programme was mainly organised for students of classes nursery and LKG.

Under the esteemed guidance of the Principal, Mrs Sangeeta Nistandra, the school community aims to empower the beginning of the academic year 2024-2025 by fostering a strong partnership with parents. The goal is to familiarise parents with the school’s NEP-based curriculum, rules, and regulations, as well as the various facilities and resources available. This initiative also aims to provide parents with information on the school’s academic calendar, fee payment schedule, and norms to better understand the educational journey at Apeejay Education.

The school believes in promoting activities and child-centred learning. Mrs Nistandra introduced various communication tools like the school website, Moodle, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, encouraging parents to engage and share valuable feedback to enhance the educational experience for all involved.

The programme began with a ceremonial lamp lighting to invoke blessings for the upcoming journey. Viraj Sharma, a UKG student, warmly greeted parents with Apeejay souvenirs, symbolising affection and goodwill. The Principal then addressed the gathering, introducing four key concepts to avoid when raising siblings. She emphasised understanding why children experience stress and provided practical remedies to help them cope.

The Principal also stressed upon the importance of positive affirmations for good mental health and shared a healthy diet meal plan accompanied by engaging rhymes. During her speech, she emphasised the school’s values, ethics, mission, and learning environment, highlighting a strong commitment to excellence in education.

The legacy of Founder-Chairman Dr Stya Paul was celebrated with a meaningful quote reflecting Apeejay’s commitment to “Man Making and Nation Building.” Mrs Nistandra expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University and shared her inspiring message with the parents. She also introduced new parents to Mr Nishant Berlia, Co-Promoter Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University; Mr Aditya Berlia, Co-Promoter of Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University; Dr Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter of Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University.

Parents were informed about the ongoing efforts of the management to ensure the safety and security of the students. They were shown a video highlighting the recent renovations the school has undergone over the past year, providing a glimpse of the school’s continuous improvement and commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.

The importance of the Parent Partnership Programme, including coffee meetups, to nurture a strong and positive relationship between parents and the school was also highlighted. An interactive session led by the Principal encouraged open discussions and yielded valuable outcomes.

During this session, teachers shared various teaching methodologies like phonics, sensory play, and Montessori activities with parents. They highlighted the diverse learning environment at Apeejay, which incorporates STEM activities, thematic learning, experiential learning, and subject enrichment activities.

The teachers also mentioned the upcoming Parent’s Mobile Application, designed for easy access to school information, demonstrating the school’s commitment to enhancing communication and engagement with parents.

The Orientation Programme concluded with gratitude towards the parents for their esteemed presence and their trust in Apeejay’s educational journey.
