Understanding the value of “heartfulness” is peacefulness

The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Rotaract Club of Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram jointly organised an interactive session on “Heartfulness”. The Resource People for the session were Dr. Atul Kumar, Certified Heartfulness Trainer (People & Communication Head – HR, Thiess India Ltd.), Gurgaon and Prof. Ruchika Yadav, Certified Heartfulness Trainer, Gurgaon.

The session aimed at promoting mental well-being, self-awareness, and holistic development among students and faculty members. It further introduced the participants to Heartfulness practices that focus on meditation, relaxation, and emotional balance. These practices encourage mindfulness and emotional resilience, contributing to overall well-being.

The event commenced with a brief introduction of the resource persons by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Programme Coordinator, NSS ASU. The participants, including students and faculty members, were welcomed with enthusiasm, and a brief overview of the Heartfulness approach was shared.

Dr. Atul Kumar began the session by explaining the principles behind Heartfulness. He emphasised, “Practicing heartfulness focuses on connecting with the inner self and fostering a sense of calmness and clarity.” 

Further, through guided meditation, he demonstrated techniques to reduce stress, enhance focus, and cultivate inner peace. His insights from the corporate world and personal journey with Heartfulness deeply resonated with the audience.

Subsequently, Prof. Ruchika Yadav elaborated on the practical aspects of Heartfulness. She discussed, “Daily meditation can improve emotional regulation and promote personal growth.” Prof. Yadav also addressed the importance of balancing professional, academic, and personal lives through mindfulness. She guided the participants through a Heartfulness relaxation technique, allowing them to experience the process firsthand.

Adding his perspective, Dr. Vijay Kumar (Program Coordinator of NSS), shared, “The interactive session on Heartfulness successfully fostered awareness about mental well-being and provided practical tools for stress management and personal development to the audience. The NSS and Rotaract Club look forward to organising more such events in the future, contributing to the holistic development of the ASU community.”

The event also featured an interactive Q&A session, where students asked insightful questions about integrating Heartfulness into their daily routines. The resource persons responded with valuable tips and shared success stories of individuals who had benefited from the practice.

Lastly, the session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Vijay Kumar, Programme Coordinator, NSS, Apeejay Stya University appreciating the resource persons for their enlightening insights and the participants for their active engagement. The feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing interests in adopting Heartfulness as a daily practice.
