Beyond textbooks and exams, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communications provided opportunities for practical learning, says Apoorva Singh, who pursued TV and Radio Journalism at this institute. Working as an Intern at Zee Media Corporation Limited, her journey into the professional world was facilitated by AIMC. “This institute helped me in seamlessly adapting to the corporate culture,” Singh said.

In a candid interview, she talks about the unwavering support she received from the college and its faculty.

I’ve been working for just five months, where I focus on creating engaging content and conducting research. At present, I’m collaborating with the editorial team, following guidance to produce high-quality content. Working here, I have understood the ability to handle tight deadlines and operate within the corporate culture, a crucial skill in the dynamic field of media work.

My experience, so far has been part rewarding and part learning and gaining knowledge. To continue on the same journey, I am looking forward to continuing to learn and remain in the industry.

It is really hard to divide or segment my audience. But, my content production revolves around current events, particularly in the realm of politics and elections. I intend to create and engage with ongoing news, that allows me to effectively target and cater to specific groups or audiences.

Yes, and the ultimate goal is to work as an anchor. But I am well aware that for this I will have to start from zero. To excel in this field, it’s necessary to have a comprehensive understanding of the newsroom. To have a thorough knowledge, I am starting at ground level to steadily progress towards my goal.

I have seen a few of my relatives and friends who are in the news industry. Looking at them I felt motivated to pursue a career in this sector. This work engages with you, the platform is huge. During COVID-19, I connected with people abroad and it helped me improve my vocabulary and practice my skills. This is how I ended up in this industry and I love every bit of it.

My journey began with hosting online events and earning through them. The turning point was when I received a  proposal from a big gaming company, which overwhelmed me but also sparked a realisation of what my capabilities were. I hosted an event for them which turned out to be a powerful affirmation that I could excel in this field. This experience not only allowed me to connect with a broader audience but also marked the starting point of building meaningful networks.

I feel extremely proud to have pursued my post-graduate studies here. The faculty played a huge role; they guided and supported me on different issues. Their unwavering support became the driving force that helped fuel a passion within each one of us. Thanks to this incredible support system, I discovered and embraced my true capabilities. This institute has been more than just an academic institute; it is a nurturing environment that provided a launchpad for my career. I am deeply grateful to AIMC for helping me grow both professionally and personally. The institute has taught me everything that I know today. I am still in touch with a lot of teachers and batchmates from the college.

The Jaisalmer trip. Additionally, our collaborative group projects were one of the most unforgettable experiences. We dedicated long hours, working tirelessly to present our efforts to the teacher the next day, and receive endless compliments for our effort and work.
