Ms Shubhra is the mother of Agastya, a Class 1 student at Apeejay School, Faridabad, Sector-15. Agastya loves Math and plays football avidly in the school. Taking out the time from her schedule, the mother speaks to us over a phone call and elaborates on her son’s progress and her reasons for choosing the school. Read edited excerpts:

Is Agastya happy at the school?

To determine if my child is happy at school, I try asking open-ended questions about his day and his feelings. It’s important to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment at home to encourage open communication. Most of the time Agastya has nice things to say about the school, faculty and his friends. I am very happy he is growing in the school.

Are you satisfied after enrolling him here?

The satisfaction after enrolling my child in the school is based on various factors, including my child’s well-being, his academic progress, and the school’s environment. I discuss this with my child and also meet with his teachers or school staff to gauge his overall performance. They are all very supportive and so I’m happy that he is in a good place.

How is his progress going at the school?

He is progressing very well. I have observed a lot of growth in his personality since he has joined the school.

Which subjects does he like and dislike?

I talk to him about his interests and observe his performance in different subjects. He has an analytical bent of mind and loves to study Math.To solve sums is a great joy to him. Hindi is a subject he doesn’t particularly like but he is progressing well in it.

Any liking for sports?

He loves to play football and we have also enrolled him for the football classes at school, though they are yet to begin. He also goes for martial arts classes after school.

What about extracurriculars?

I have always believed that extracurricular activities can significantly contribute to your child’s overall development. My son loves painting the most and he is so fond of art as well as loves to spend time doing this.

Lastly, are the teachers teaching in a fun way with new learning techniques?

Yes, effective and engaging teaching methods are being used to enhance a child’s learning experience. My son is so attached to Seema ma’am , his class teacher in KG. He is a big fan of her teaching style. My son also likes his current class teacher Aarti Puri ma’am.
