Students at Apeejay International School, Greater Noida, enthusiastically showed their patriotic zeal and immense love for motherland by participating in various activities as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations
“Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai, dekhna ki zor kitna baazu-e-qatil mein hai.” (The desire for revolution is in our hearts, we shall see how much strength lies in the arms of the enemy.)
In the history of India’s struggle for freedom against the British, these immortal lines became a war cry. Brave young men openly revolted against British rule thereby sparking the fire of revolution to lead India on the road to freedom. Amongst the revolutionary leaders, Ram Prasad Bismil, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Bhagat Singh hold a very special place.
Fondly remembering hundreds of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom, students at Apeejay International School, Greater Noida, participated in ‘Dress as a Freedom Fighter’ activity while paying a patriotic tribute to the national heroes. Aarav Sinha from Class KG dressed as Bhagat Singh. “I felt very nice and I also recited a Hindi poem Dekho Baccho Yeh Jhanda Pyara.”
Commemorating 75 years of independence and celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the school also held a special assembly. It started with the patriotic speech by the student emphasising on the role of citizens as the true wealth of a country.
Subsequently, patriotic poems were recited by the students in English and Hindi, and that was followed by a dance performance and a musical rendition by the school choir. Class 1 student Arshit Mohan, who participated in patriotic poem recitation activity, highlighted why he chose to recite the patriotic poem Desh Hamara. “My mother helped me to select this poem. It’s a poem that explains the diversity of India. This poem is very unique, explaining the key elements of our nation. I am eager to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
Arshit loves to recite poems. He has not just participated in several inter and intra school poem recitation competitions, but has won laurels in many. For this poem, he practiced for a few times before performing it on stage.
Among a range of activities for students, slogan recitation was conducted for students of classes Nursery to II. Aditya Singh recited the famous slogan – “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai, dekhna ki zor kitna baazu-e-qatil mein hai.” Dressed as revolutionary leader Bhagat Singh, Aditya said, “I dressed like him because he was very brave. For Independence Day, I will go for flag hoisting and I will wear tricolour dress. I also participated in salad making activity and made a triclour boat using banana, capsicum, carrot and bread.”
Aanvi Sharmaof class 1 felt extremely excited participating in the independence day celebrations. “I was full of energy and very much happy. I sang the song ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and I like this song a lot. I wore white frock with a tricolor batch and waved tricolour ribbons while singing the song,” she expressed.
The school’s atmosphere was filled with patriotic fervour that awakened everyone’s feelings towards the motherland. Further, to create awareness about the national flag, a power point presentation was shown to emphasise the importance of the Indian flag. Dr Sarita Pande, Principal of the school, also shared with the participants to take pride in being an Indian and fulfil one’s duty with responsibility.
