India celebrated the completion of 75 years of Independence this year. Taking part in the exuberance of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Apeejay School of Management (ASM) and Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) celebrated Independence Day at its campus in Dwarka with patriotic zeal. The surroundings reverberated with ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ slogans, filling Apeejayites with immense pride for their nation.

For the Independence Day celebrations, the campus was beautifully decorated in tricolour. The students and teachers appeared in their best traditional outfits on this day.

The event began with the unfurling of the national flag by ASM Director Dr Alka Munjal and AIMC Director Professor Sajal Mukherjee. Following this, the students and faculty members gathered for a special assembly. Colonel Satish Chandra Dewan, who was invited as the guest of the day, expressed love for his country on the occasion and enriched hearts with a spirit of devotion and duty towards the country. He motivated the youth to take steps in the direction of self-reliance and entrepreneurship. He reminded students to take pride in their identity as Indians and value unity, which is our true strength.

Among the other faculty members present were Professor Alok Saklani, advisor, ASM, Professor Dr Etinder Pal Singh, Deputy Director, ASM, and Professor Kamal Kishore, Dean, ASM.

Manisha Singh and Himanshu Mehendiratta, students from PGDM batch 2021-23, and Kritagya Srivastava of PGDM batch 2022-23, enthralled the audience with their melodious and heart-warming rendition of patriotic songs. Shourya Anand and Vikas Sheorain from PGDM batch 2022-24 recited a poem. The programme was hosted by Kajal Kumari of PGDM batch 2021-21 and Anmol Lalwani from batch 2022-24.

Vikas Sheorain said, “The event gave me an opportunity to reflect once again on the idea of India once again and what makes a country. It is the people of the country who make and define a nation and not just its geographical boundaries.”

Added Kajal Kumari added, “It was a proud moment for me to be hosting the programme. I feel immensely proud to be a citizen of India, a country with such a rich culture and heritage.”

The celebrations concluded with the national anthem.

“This is a very important occasion for every Indian and especially ASM members. Our honourable founder chairman Dr Stya Paul was a freedom fighter, and nation-building was his motto throughout his life. Students, faculty, and staff members were present during the flag hoisting ceremony. We had a wonderful celebration by ASM students & an excellent speech by Colonel Satish Chandra Dewan.”

– Dr Alka Munjal, Director, ASM

“I feel immense pride seeing the colours of Independence spreading in the Apeejay Dwarka Campus. I urge the students, faculty, and staff members to find their national spirit.”

-Professor Sajal Mukherjee, Director, AIMC
