Apeejay Institute of Technology-School of Architecture & Planning (AIT-SAP), Greater Noida, celebrated ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at their campus to mark the completion of 75 years of Indian Independence.

To pay a rich tribute to the country’s glorious culture and heritage, the students came together to organise several programmes on the eve of Independence Day. They also took a pledge to value the freedom they have today. All the members of AIT-SAP got together to witness the hoisting of the national flag near the Management block in the presence of Executive Director DN Bajpai and Director Professor Vivek Sabherwal.

Apart from cultural performances, the college also conducted a poster-making competition on the theme of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

To add to the festive spirit, the alumni of different batches also joined the celebrations for the first time ever. They interacted with everyone while recalling the time they spent at AIT-SAP. This was followed by the distribution of sweets. The alumni were also introduced to the new students.

Bhupendra Kumar, AIT-SAP alumnus from the 2008 batch, recalled, “It was one of our batchmates who had created the model for the new building at the campus. To look at the building standing tall filled us with pride. The modern infrastructure and the state-of-the-art facilities offered are very impressive. It was an overwhelming experience to be able to meet old friends and faculty members and even interact with the current students.

“The Director also said that the alumni, who were pursuing research or any related work, were most welcome to the library at AIT-SAP. That was touching. I had a very nice experience,” said the MD and founder of Aeifoira architects.

Added Akshat Jain, another alumnus from the 2010 batch, “Visiting the campus after such a long time and interacting with my old friends and faculty members made me feel very nostalgic. The alumni engaged in fruitful discussions—we also deliberated on the possibility of student counselling.” Akshat is working as the project head for the World Trade Centre, Greater Noida.

Overall, it was a joyous occasion for the Apeejay family.

This year’s Independence Day celebrations were very special considering the buoyant and vibrant mood of everyone going forward to celebrate the milestone of 75 years of Independence. The coming together of alumni with the students and staff and faculty demonstrated Apeejay’s spirit!
