To pay tribute to India’s heritage on completing 75 years of Independence, Apeejay School, Pitampura organised a grand ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ week to instill patriotic feelings in students and a sense of pride for their nation.

The week-long gala comprised a range of engaging activities and cultural performances. Students from both the primary and the secondary wings enthusiastically participated in the festivities. The primary wing began the celebrations with a special morning assembly. Dressed as freedom fighters, students from classes 2 and 3 sang patriotic songs, delivered speeches, and even recited poems.

Students of class 1 held the ‘tiranga’ and patriotic posters in their hands, wore badges of the national flag, and marched inside the school. They participated in Independence Day-themed class activities including drawing and painting the Indian flag, poem recitation, patriotic dance, rangoli, etc.

The senior school, on the other hand, presented a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak that won the appreciation of all. Classes 6 and 7 participated in an inter-house display board competition, showing great enthusiasm and zeal. Another major highlight was a beautiful kathak dance performance by one of the teachers.

On the sidelines, two Apeejay Pitampura students Shubham Ashish Kulkarni and Jiya Sateeja also won a quiz competition themed on India organised by Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, for students of Delhi NCR.

On the final day of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ week, the school’s Determination House organised a vibrant cultural programme. The venue was decked up in tricolour décor for the day. It began with the unfurling of the national flag by the school principal Veena Goel. In her address, she expressed pride in the rich Indian culture and urged every student to work with honesty and dedication to take our nation to monumental heights.

As the performances began, students left the audience awestruck with their graceful dance presentations and melodious renditions, thus highlighting the country’s true cultural essence. Zealous poems and speeches were also delivered to evoke patriotism among one and all.

At the end of the event, group photos were clicked, and sweets were distributed among the attendees. Independence Day was thus celebrated with great gusto and fervour.
