‘Shaheed Capt. Vikram Batra motivates me’: Poem by: Ashriya Gupta, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar

A tribute to all the soldiers protecting the country 24/7

I may be young

I may be naive

But there is one thing

For which I crave

To serve my country

With zeal and passion

And drive away the enemies

Who show no kindness, no compassion

Films like border and Shershaah

Might have brought out the patriot in me

But attacks of 26/11 and Pulwama

Have certainly instilled a fierce hunger in me

A sense of responsibility

An awakening call

Against every enemy, against every adversity

To act as strong as a wall

Be it China, Pakistan or any other country

Dare not look at India

With all my will with all my valor

I vow to guard the borders of India

I may have won many awards during my school time

Still I desire for the most prestigious

Often designated as ‘Wheel of the Brave’

The ‘Param Vir Chakra’ has rendered me extremely ambitious

Not just any other medal

But a symbol of the country’s bravest

I too wish I could exhibit exemplary courage

To adorn it on my chest

Motivated by the mighty soldiers of the Indian army

I desire to unfurl the Indian flag high in the sky

Nothing can stop me now

I am not even afraid to die

Serving my motherland and bringing glory to the country

Will be my aim

As said by captain Vikram Batra “Yeh dil maange more”

I shall happily sacrifice myself for my country
