Meet Ms Sumita Gupta, the lead behind Amazon Web Services (AWS) India’s groundbreaking initiative to revolutionise cloud service infrastructure for educational institutions. She’s not just an innovator in the tech world, but also a proud mother to Aprajita, a brilliant class 11 student at Apeejay School, Faridabad Sector 15.

And let us tell you, Aprajita is not your regular student – she’s a powerhouse of talent, excelling not only in academics but also as a gifted writer, talented dancer, captivating singer, and culinary maestro. A new student to the school, Aprajita chose Physics-Chemistry-Biology with Psychology as her favourite subjects. She hopes to make it count in the next two years of her schooling by focusing on holistic development. Read on, as we get to know the student and her family better. Edited excerpts from the interview.

Tell us more about your experience at Apeejay, Faridabad.

When we (my husband and I) entered the school on our first visit, I could feel a lot of positivity in the campus. It started from simple things and small efforts. Right from the security guard at the gate to the professional at the reception of the school, the overall environment was extremely warm. A lot of care was taken, be it solving queries, guiding us around or making the relevant people available to enlighten us. Every touch point of engagement with the school was substantial and it was an immediate priority for all the staff to ensure that we were comfortable.

It is worth mentioning that even during my daughter’s admission process, things panned out smoothly. I asked her how she felt at Apeejay and she immediately replied, “I liked the atmosphere”. So, she had a similar feedback to share. By this time, she had only visited the school once for her written text and viva. After the results of her performance were shared with us, I felt that Apeejay teachers accurately evaluated her strengths. Overall, my daughter had a positive experience of appearing for an interview and all the teachers boosted her confidence. I felt that the school created a balanced environment to bring out the best in her.

Besides, I knew about Apeejay since my school years. So, while choosing it for my daughter, I was sure that she would be in good hands. Some of my colleagues’ children also graduated from different branches of Apeejay Schools. Honestly, I didn’t take much time before formalising the decision.

Is she able to adjust well in the new environment?

Yes. She attended the extra classes in May. As soon as the school resumed post the summer vacations, she was present in the classes. I have noticed that Aprajita likes to go to school. She told me that she finds her classmates helpful and supportive. Moreover, according to her, the teachers are approachable too. Its only a month that she is in the school, she is trying to make new friends and is appreciative of various academic and non-academic activities the school is providing her. In addition, my daughter is doing her best to catch up in a new environment. So, I am quite hopeful that she will do well.

In the future, she hopes to become a doctor. Her inspiration comes from her elder sister, Ananya, who is pursuing medicine in Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre in Pune.

Would you recommend Apeejay to other parents?

Yes, absolutely! Some of my daughter’s former tutors even called to congratulate me about the fact that she got admission in Apeejay. All the educators had great feedback about the school and its academic-focus. So, I am confident that Aprajita is in good hands, she will be carved as a future ready responsible student ready to take next leap as a medical aspirant.
