Navi Mumbai school fosters engagement and collaboration with parents at orientation programme

A well-known psychiatrist and a dietician were invited as guest speakers to the event

Apeejay School, Nerul, organised a Parent Orientation Programme for parents of newly admitted students from kindergarten to class XI. The objective of the event was to acquaint parents with the school’s environment and processes.

The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Among the eminent dignitaries who attended the event were P Subhash, the school principal, Preety Gupta, the vice-principal of the school, academic coordinator Shakuntala Singh, primary coordinator KC Vijaylaksmi, and pre-primary coordinator Mrinalini Singh.

The guest speakers for the day were Dr Kamini Deshmukh, a consulting psychiatrist, and Madhuri Somani, an expert dietician. They were warmly welcomed by the principal with flowers.

A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation provided parents with an insight into Apeejay Education and its culture. The first session, led by the principal, focused on different parenting styles and stressed the crucial role of parents in shaping their children’s growth. Parents were encouraged to be supportive and actively involved in their child’s development, setting positive examples to be emulated.

Somani delivered a talk on “Mentoring Towards Healthy Lifestyle”, in which she emphasised the importance of making nutritious food choices for children’s physical and mental well-being. Deshmukh discussed the topic: “A Thoughtful Approach to Parenting”, providing practical parenting tips.

The session was very interactive where parents engaged enthusiastically with the speakers and received satisfactory answers to their queries. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks followed by a functional lunch served to the parents.

This valuable initiative fostered collaboration and effective communication between parents and the school, ensuring a strong partnership in the education and well-being of the students.
