Choosing the right school for their child is a significant decision for parents in India due to several reasons that are rooted in the country’s educational, social, and economic context. The education a child receives can have profound implications on their future, influencing not just their academic development but also their social skills, career opportunities, and overall personality development.

The school’s reputation can also impact a student’s prospects, including higher education and job opportunities. Schools well-regarded for academic excellence or particular extracurricular strengths can open doors for students in the future.

Schools with a focus on holistic development offer children a range of extracurricular activities, sports, and opportunities for personal growth alongside academics. This exposure is essential for a well-rounded personality development. Schools like Apeejay Education, with a legacy of over five decades, believe in providing academic excellence with extracurricular activities. This made it easy for parents like Rohit Narang and his wife Ruchi to narrow down the school for their daughter Kkashvi, who today studies in class V at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.

In a candid interview, the father shares his experience with this school.

Can you tell us about your daughter’s educational journey so far?

My daughter started her education journey at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, GK II where she attended play school, nursery, and KG. About five years later, she transitioned from Rhythms to Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, where she’s at present in class V. We’ve planned her educational path carefully from the beginning, ensuring she attends schools that align with our expectations and her needs.

Why did you initially choose Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld for your daughter?

The decision to enroll her here was based on several factors. During my visits to multiple schools, this stood out because of its excellent play area and the emphasis on teaching students through logic and practical problem-solving. The school’s approach to education, focusing on practical applications and encouraging students to find solutions, resonated with us.

How has the transition to Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park been for your daughter?

The transition was smooth and had been planned since she was in nursery. We haven’t faced any issues, and the teachers here have been supportive and effective. My daughter has bonded well with her teachers and classmates, participating actively in sports, extracurricular activities, and school events like the annual day and tennis tournaments.

How important is the teacher-student relationship to you, and how is your daughter’s relationship with her teachers?

The teacher-student relationship is crucial for effective learning. My daughter has a great rapport with her teachers, which has positively impacted her learning and participation in school activities. She’s very active in sports, yoga, and dance, thanks to the encouragement and support from her teachers.

Are parent-teacher meetings held regularly?

Yes, the PTMs are conducted regularly, with the last one occurring at the end of December. These meetings are a good opportunity to discuss my daughter’s progress and any concerns with her teachers.

Would you recommend APJ School to other parents?

Absolutely. I would recommend this school to other parents. I’m very satisfied with the quality of education and the holistic development opportunities the school provides. I’ve already been recommending it to others.

Why do you think parents today are looking beyond academics when choosing a school for their child?

While academics remain a core focus, parents increasingly value the overall development of their children. Activities outside the traditional academic curriculum help children become more practical, socially adept, and open to exploring new opportunities. This holistic development is essential for their future success and well-being.

Do you have a parenting mantra?

Our parenting approach emphasises freedom and exploration. We believe in letting our daughter pursue her interests, which currently include gymnastics. She’s taking coaching classes and aims to compete at the state level next year. We support her aspirations to become a sportsperson, reflecting our belief in encouraging our daughter to explore her passions and abilities.

What do you and your wife do professionally?

I run my own business, and my wife is a homemaker. We both are actively involved in supporting our daughter’s educational and extracurricular pursuits.
