Taking another step forward to foster key skills among budding tech professionals, Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, in collaboration with Edulateral Foundation (EF), hosted the Intel oneAPI workshop. The aim of this workshop was to empower students and developers in the world of heterogeneous computing. This initiative signified the importance of embracing open software stacks and portability across different hardware architectures, reducing development time and promoting code reusability.

The session commenced  with a warm welcome from Dr. Garima Sharma, who introduced the audience to the expert, Ms. Rajeeve Dharmaraj, a tech professional trainer with Intel edulateral.

During the session, Ms Dharmaraj touched upon several key topics  including artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. She further emphasised on the Intel oneAPI toolkit, its libraries, and the ecosystem support underlined the practical aspect of the workshop, offering students exposure to tools and technologies that are relevant in today’s computing landscape. Additionally, the mention of Intel Dev Cloud and its application in real-world scenarios, such as agriculture, showcases the practicality of these technologies in addressing real-world challenges.

Sharing her thoughts, Diksha, a 2nd year student of B Tech CSE said, “The Intel OneAPI Toolkit workshop was an enlightening experience that provided valuable insights into the powerful tools and capabilities it offers. It began with the introduction on the topic. We got to know about Artificial intelligence, Deep learning, machine learning and how Intel OneAPI toolkit functions. We also studied python programming on a Jupyter notebook as well as learnt some of the libraries in Python. This workshop was a fantastic opportunity to dive deep into the world of OneAPI and enhance our skills for efficient software development.”

Another student from B Tech CSE Priyanshu Sen mentioned, “The webinar was Wonderful and Easy to understand. The resource person Ms. Rajeeve Dharmaraj was really an enthusiastic and a competent personality who knew how to grab the attention of the students. A Basic but informative explanation about AI including a good interactive session regarding the components of AI and its examples was provided which helped in the clarity of the concepts. She gave a brief description on these following terms: ML, Computer vision, Anomaly detection, NLP, Conversational AI. Its applications were also discussed taking into account the real life and practical usage of AI. After this session about AI, an informative session on the topic of oneAPI started in which we were told about what OneAPI is, how it works and its applications in various ways. The various toolkits and its installation process were also explained briefly. Live demonstration was also given on the topic along with a code for a better understanding of the complexity. Overall, the session was really informative for us knowledge seekers and helped us get a clear view on the topic.”

The session concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Dr Amit Kumar Goel, Professor at School of Engineering and Technology, ASU. He further appreciated Edulateral Foundation, Pradeep Gnanapragasam, subject expert Ms. Rajeeve Dharamraj, and Apeejay Professor Dr. Garima for their collaborative spirit and commitment to knowledge dissemination within the academic community.

Overall, this workshop appears to have been a valuable and insightful experience for students and developers, equipping them with knowledge and skills that are increasingly relevant in the ever-evolving world of computing. It reflects a forward-thinking approach by Apeejay Stya University and Edulateral Foundation to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern computing landscape.
