With the safety and well-being of children at the heart of education, Apeejay School, Pitampura, organised an insightful faculty workshop on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act. The session was conducted by Advocate Ms Janvi Singh, who provided educators with a comprehensive understanding of child protection laws and the critical role schools play in ensuring a safe and secure learning environment.
The workshop aimed to strengthen teachers’ awareness of the legal framework designed to protect children and highlighted their responsibilities as educators in identifying, reporting, and responding appropriately to situations involving child safety. Through an engaging and interactive presentation, Ms Singh explained the key provisions of the POCSO Act and the JJ Act, emphasising the importance of timely intervention, confidentiality, and adherence to legal protocols.

The session also focused on the rights of children, the importance of creating safe spaces within schools, and the need for educators to remain vigilant and sensitive to the emotional and psychological well-being of every student. Real-life examples and case-based discussions enabled participants to better understand practical scenarios they may encounter in educational settings and the appropriate course of action in each case.
Teachers actively participated in discussions, raising questions and sharing experiences that enriched the learning process. The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged meaningful dialogue on child protection, ethical responsibilities, and the collective role of educators in fostering trust, respect, and security within the school community.

The workshop reinforced that safeguarding children extends beyond academic instruction and is a shared responsibility requiring awareness, empathy, and accountability. It also underscored the significance of continuous professional development in equipping educators with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to child protection concerns.
By organising this awareness session, Apeejay School, Pitampura reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and child-friendly environment where every student feels protected, respected, and empowered to thrive. The workshop served as a valuable reminder that informed and responsible educators are the cornerstone of a safe school ecosystem, ensuring that every child’s rights, dignity, and well-being remain a top priority.
