Dharmendra Pradhan launches IndiaSkills 2023; honours 2022 World Skills Champions

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled India Skills 2023-24 recently. On the occasion, he highlighted the skill competition’s importance in showcasing unique and varied talents of the nation’s youth. He also honoured 18 champions from the World Skills 2022 competition at the event. India has achieved its highest-ever global ranking, securing eleventh place out of 58 countries, with an impressive haul of two silver, three bronze medals and thirteen medallions for excellence.
The World Skills event, spanning September to November 2022 across Europe, North America, and East Asia, saw participation in 50 skills. Contestants were chosen through the IndiaSkills Competition 2021. A total of 165 national champions underwent specialised training at WorldSkills-standard facilities, mentored by experts from WorldSkills India.
Noteworthy industry and academic partners contributed to the comprehensive preparation, including Toyota Kirloskar, Mahindra, Infosys, IIT-Palakkad, and many others. Of the fifty-six competitors, eleven were female, showcasing diverse talent in cutting-edge fields like robot system integration, additive manufacturing, and renewable energy.
