Delhi schools must ease admissions for children with special needs

Published

on

In a fresh set of guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE), admission to any child shall not be denied on the grounds of disability or severity of the disability in Delhi schools. These instructions have been given to school managements in order to increase the ease of school admission of Children with Special Needs (CWSN).

Restrictions on age, documents and class capacity will be eased for students with special needs and schools cannot deny admission to them based on the ground that they do not have a special educator and other facilities.

Further, the guidelines state that school heads should offer relaxation of up to four years in terms of age to these students seeking admission in the school. Any child unable to produce the required documents at the time of admission will be given provisional admission. His/her parents will be given a maximum of three months to submit the necessary papers.
